An international insurance company brought in a Health and Safety (H&S) Consultant from Antea Group UK to assist with EHS support for their London Office. The consultant was to work closely with the workplace team at the client’s office. The client did not have in-house H&S personnel, so the role was to cover anything H&S related for the office, mainly consisting of the below:
Policy and guidelines development.
Risk Assessment creation and reviews.
Employee engagement and safety culture promotion.
Accident and Incident investigation and management.
Display Screen Equipment (DSE) support.
Support with new starter onboarding.
Event risk assessments.
Support with H&S for a shared workspace in London where some Convex employees are based.
Solution
Antea Group engaged with the client prior to project commencement, to ensure expectations were aligned. The client had previously employed a Health and Safety consultant who wasn’t a suitable culture fit, so they were keen to ensure the consultant would take a pragmatic, realistic approach to H&S in their office. The client had some unique approaches to H&S, and it was important to them that the consultant understood and embraced this. The Antea Group UK consultant was based remotely and visited once every 3 months, or otherwise when requested, with 24 hours per month to support the Client.
As a part of the project, Antea Group UK completed:
Reviews of existing risk assessments.
Detailed review of the existing Management System with recommendations provided for improvement.
Review of the H&S Policy.
Implementation of a risk assessment process for expectant mothers, which Convex was lacking previously.
Improvement on DSE support offered with more in person assessments now a focus.
Support with risk assessments and guidance for young people who are working in or visiting the office.
Engagement with other key stakeholders including HR, catering, IT, and building management to improve current procedures.
Result
The client was satisfied with the EHS support provided by Antea Group UK and provided positive feedback throughout the year-long project. Antea Group UK added value to the client by introducing programs the client did not have, whilst conducting thorough reviews of programs they did have in place. Upon completion, the client renewed the contract with Antea Group UK for future support.
