Providing Engaging Ergonomics Support for Global Tech Company

Providing Engaging Ergonomics Support for Global Tech Company

Challenge

The Client, a global leader in the technology industry, sought support to manage their ergonomics programme in the United Kingdom, for corporate, retail, and lab environments. With prestigious office moves upcoming in London and beyond, and nearly 40 retail sites across the UK, the Client sought high quality, engaging ergonomics support to proactively drive ergonomics awareness.

Solution

Antea Group UK’s ergonomics team engaged with the Client to understand their priorities, and plan and deliver a successful ergonomics programme.

The programme was delivered by Jess Beckwith, an Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and ergonomics consultant with several years of ergonomics experience, CEAS level 1, REAS level 1 and DSE assessor certification.

The programme deliverables have included:

  • A thorough and engaging proactive ergonomics programme, offering group training via video call to over 250 employees to highlight ergonomics best practices, guidance on workstation set up, and top tips for staying comfortable. In this manner, employees can amend their workstation set-up to prevent discomfort occurring in the future.
  • Remote support provided to corporate employees who are moving offices to ensure their workstations are set up ergonomically. Using this as an opportunity to signpost to guidance and support avenues if employees are experiencing discomfort.
  • Reactive ergonomics assessments provided for employees experiencing discomfort. Offering behavioural advice as a priority to improve ergonomic habits and workstation adjustments. Sourcing alternative equipment via the Client’s equipment procurement arrangements when needed.
  • Working with multiple stakeholders including Ergonomics, Facilities and EHS to address complex cases, including those with accessibility challenges, managing communications in a careful manner.
  • Provided specialist ergonomics support for Retail employees experiencing discomfort, accounting for challenges such as manual handling, prolonged standing, awkward postures, and device usage. Working with store leadership teams and EHS to provide effective solutions which are sensitive to the needs of the store.
  • Completed Pregnancy Risk Assessments and Return to Work assessments for new and expectant mothers, to identify risks, provide ergonomics advice, and identify actions to reduce risk.

Result

The programme is ongoing, with regular glowing client feedback. The ergonomics programme assists with regulatory compliance, reduced sickness and improved productivity and morale while remaining cost-effective to maximize the Client’s budget.
