The New Standard: Environmental Product Declarations

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are the industry standard for demonstrating the environmental impact of a product in the UK and across Europe. They are increasingly being used in construction, investment, government, and large buying organisations to robustly measure the embodied carbon in buildings, infrastructure or supply chains.

What is an EPD?

An EPD provides data on resource consumption, energy use, waste generation, and emissions to air, water and soil, in line with European Standard EN 15804, ISO 14025, and other relevant international standards.

EPDs are frequently required for construction materials to help clients make informed decisions about the environmental impacts of each component. Sustainability assessments such as BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) also utilise EPDs in their scoring methodologies.

Demonstrate Your Product’s Environmental Performance

At Antea Group, our expert carbon auditors have generated EPDs for a diverse range of products, from construction materials and electronics to clothing, food, and beverages.

We work with you to collect primary consumption data and/or use robust assumptions or proxy data to create a lifecycle scope and inventory. From raw materials, transport, manufacturing, in-use and end-of-life, we will help you quantify the environmental impact of your product.

Whether you require EPD certification to get your product on approved procurement lists, or to demonstrate an environmental benefit compared to your competitors and create a commercial advantage, Antea Group can support you. Contact our team to get started.
