Product Lifecycle Analysis (LCA)

Demonstrate your Product’s Environmental Performance

Product Lifecycle Carbon Analysis is used to measure the total carbon emissions throughout a product's entire lifecycle from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal or recycling.

LCAs are a key tool in measuring Scope 3 supply chain emissions, with many large buying organisations, construction projects and government contracts requiring good quality, standardised carbon data.

Consumers are increasingly conscious of the environmental impact of the products that they buy. Products with a demonstrable low carbon footprint or carbon neutral status are more attractive in the market place.

Product LCAs also allow manufactures to measure key performance metrics associated with their product ranges and support reporting to Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS).

Key stages of a LCA include:

  • Raw materials – emissions associated with farming, mining or processing materials
  • Transportation of goods – Shipping of raw materials and other components to your facility
  • Manufacturing & Production – Energy and resources used in processes
  • Shipping to customer – transporting finished goods for distribution or to your end customer
  • In-use – emissions generated whilst a product is being use
  • End-of-life – emissions from disposal, reuse or recycling
