Meet Ruby
Favorite Thing about Being an EHS Practitioner:
I enjoy working in Health and Safety as it allows me to see and do things that I’d never otherwise get to experience! I’ve seen the most amazing views of London from some of the highest rooftops and have accessed some of the most remarkable and impressive buildings in the city.
What is a key ingredient for success as an EHS practitioner?
The ability to bond and communicate with individuals from all walks of life. My approach to EHS is as a caring ‘people person’ and relationship building, and mutual trust are key to being a successful EHS practitioner in my opinion.
What areas of EHS are you most interested in? Why?
I have a particular interest in wellbeing and mental health. Encouraging healthy work environments, awareness and compassion in the workplace is important to me from a personal perspective.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favourite part of the job is meeting people and experiencing new things. Making a difference to the way in which people work and ultimately ensuring that everybody can go home safely at the end of each working day.
Just for Fun...
If you had one month off, where would you go or what would you do?
I’ve recently had a short career break of a month prior to starting at Antea Group UK, I used the time to reconnect with myself and the things I love. I’ve spent time with family and friends, sorted out my garden which previously resembled a jungle, celebrated a milestone birthday and bonded with my dog through activities such as agility and swimming!
Is there something unique that people might not know about you? (hobbies, hidden talents, etc.)
I’ve been riding horses for almost 20 years. It’s my happy place and a hobby that will always have a place in my heart.
What is on the top of your bucket list?
I’ve always had a passion for animals, and I would love to rescue as many as my partner will allow. I dream of opening an animal sanctuary one day.
Any advice for people looking to go into EHS consulting?
Give it a go if you have the opportunity. It’s a great career and despite the stigma, Health and Safety doesn’t have to be boring!
