Favorite Thing about Being an EHS Practitioner:
The variety of the work. I’ve been lucky to work in diverse settings, from highways and the roof of Gatwick Airport and now onto a major tech company, each with its own unique challenges and experiences.

What is a key ingredient for success as an EHS practitioner?
In my experience, the key to success as an EHS practitioner is building strong relationships and fostering a culture of trust and accountability. When people feel heard, respected, and supported, they’re far more likely to engage with EHS initiatives in a meaningful and lasting way.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
Getting to work with so many people, I believe that my role is to support and make sure everyone not only goes home safe and healthy every day, but also that they are respected, empowered, and cared for, both physically and mentally. I strive to create a positive impact on their lives, not just at work, but in a way that supports their overall wellbeing and sense of fulfillment.

If someone at a party asks what you do, how do you respond?
I work in health and safety, I help businesses keep their people safe and make sure they’re looking after both physical and mental wellbeing. It’s more than just ticking boxes; I try to make workplaces better, safer, and more positive environments to be in.

Just for Fun...

What was your first job?
My first job was as a Studio Assistant at a design agency.

What is on the top of your bucket list?
To visit all the Disney parks across the world.

What historical or fictional character would you most like to work with?
Tony Stark (Iron Man), he’s an inventor and a problem-solver, his innovative mindset and tech skills would be amazing for tackling safety challenges with cutting-edge solutions.

Bonus – any advice for people looking to go into EHS consulting?
Stay curious and never stop learning. EHS is a constantly evolving field, regulations change, technologies advance, and every client presents unique challenges. The best practitioners are those who approach each situation with an open mind, ask good questions, and are always looking for better ways to protect people and the planet.

Also, don’t be afraid to say, “I don’t know, but I’ll find out.” Your credibility doesn’t come from knowing everything, it comes from your commitment to understanding the issues deeply and providing practical, tailored solutions. Build strong relationships, listen more than you speak, and always aim to have the businesses you work with not just compliant, but safer and more informed than before.
