  • About Me in 140 Characters: I am an avid sportsperson who loves to watch and play all sorts of sports. I played football from an early age for about 20 years, but my body is starting to feel it now! And so, I love to do things a bit less vigorous like getting out for walks. Working in health and safety is very fulfilling for me and I feel like I am making a positive impact to people’s lives. Before falling into the EHS consultancy world, I worked for a major British Retailer for nearly 9 years and if you’ve working in retail, you will understand the roller coaster ride.

What is your favorite thing about being an EHS Practitioner?
being able to understand and help people.

What is the most interesting project you’ve ever worked on?
Not so much interesting but fun… We were providing ergonomics support for a global tech company across EMEA and to engage the employees we made some ‘TikTok’ style videos. Filming and coming up with the ideas was enjoyable and slightly more interesting than report writing.

What is a key ingredient for success as a EHS practitioner?
Communication skills are vital. You need to be able to articulate yourself well and communicate clearly so the client understands. You also need to be able to listen to understand the clients needs.

What areas of EHS are you most interested in?
More so Health and Safety than Environmental. I like the more ’traditional’ health and safety doing site visits and risk assessments. 

If you could develop a new solution for EHS, what would it be?
I think diving more into the tech world and utilizing software and AI. AI hasn’t really worked in the EHS world yet, as it still needs a human to read and interpret legislation.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
CSI or something the Police.

What was your first job?
I worked at Greggs (loved it! And yes, we got free sausage rolls!)

What TV show character do you identify most with?
Jake Peralta in Brooklyn 99 – fun loving and hard working.  

Is there something unique that people might not know about you?
I am born on a leap year so I guess that’s my excuse for acting like a big kid sometimes.
